narratAR Creates a Buzz at WaMA

June 24, 2019 | Ray C. Freeman III

WORKSHOP 3D’s new narratAR app was the talk of the conference as attendees at this year’s Washington Museum Association‘s Annual Conference in Spokane last week flocked to our table to see how this new offering could advance their own museum’s mission.

Our new narratAR app, through which individual narrators, curators, docents, historians, artists, cultural figures, and others emerge from a museums’s displays to tell their stories through the magic of Augmented Reality could not have been a better fit with the subject of this year’s conference, ALL STORIES ARE TOLD HERE.

Every Curator, Director, Education Director, or other museum representative we talked to assured us that their museum had stories to tell, and in most cases, people to tell those stories. Many were familiar with our farmAR app already in place at Quincy Valley Historical Society & Museum, either because they had gone to see it, or because they had heard about it from others at the conference. QVHSM: farmAR is essentially a private label version of narratAR with additional custom features. The core functionality however, of embedded narrators engaging with museum visitors, is the essence of narratAR.

The visual interface of narratAR conforms to a museum’s own graphic identity, as shown in these screenshots of the app in action at three different museums.

We look forward to the possibility of working with the people we met at the conference, and helping them to bring their unique and fascinating stories to life with narratAR!
