Our latest Augmented Reality app, powAR<\/strong>, is now available for Beta Testing on both iOS and Android devices. powAR<\/strong> presents a number of experiences related to the Rocky Reach and Wanapum hydroelectric dams in Chelan and Grant Counties, respectively. The project was commissioned by the Chelan Count PUD<\/a> and the Grant County PUD<\/a> as part of their educational outreach missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you would like get early access to the app to help us test it out, contact us at info@workshop3d.com<\/a>. The app required an ARKit- or ARCore-enabled device. ARKit is supported on all devices that run on iOS 11<\/strong> and have A11 <\/strong>(the latest), A10<\/strong>, or A9<\/strong> chips. Some of the devices are iPhone X and iPhone 8 (Plus) as well as earlier versions such as iPhone 7 (Plus) and some others. ARCore<\/a> requires Android 7.0 or later (some models require newer versions), and the device must have originally shipped with the Google Play Store installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stand in the middle of a school of spawning salmon (see image above), follow a drop of water as it makes its way from the dam’s upstream forebay through a turbine to the downstream tail waters (below), and fly a drone at each facility (further below). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In each case, you can use your phone to look around the environment as though you were looking through your camera. In some cases, you actually are, as we bring the experience into your own environment through the magic of Augmented Reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional educational information is provided in the form of texts and diagrams about both salmon and turbines, and a news features keeps you up to date at what’s going on at the PUDs and dams in both counties .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
