CODAmagazine<\/a><\/strong> has announced that Frequency Unknown<\/a><\/strong>, an art installation created by F.E.W. Research<\/strong> and support by WORKSHOP 3D’s ARt portal<\/a><\/strong>, will be featured in their September issue, entitled Technology + Art VI<\/em><\/strong>, which will go live on Thursday, September 19, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This commissioned inter-connected art installation rises through six stories of a mid-rise apartment building, unifying the building\u2019s six elevator lobbies with a singular gesture supported by a multi-media installation on the ground floor. The overall conceptual intent is to explore the various elements of the word Broadcast<\/a><\/strong>, which is the name of the building, through a variety of media. The installation consists of steel fabrication, sandblasted, formed aluminum, vacuum-formed plastic panels, surface mapped processed video, CNC-cut acrylic and vinyl, 3D printing, programmed LED lighting, laser cut hand finished wood panels, and, of course, augmented reality<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

F.E.W. Research Partners Ray C. Freeman III<\/a><\/strong> (me), Miguel Edwards<\/a><\/strong>, and Jonathan Womack<\/a><\/strong> developed a thematically driven installation to explore and expand the definition of the term Broadcast<\/strong>, and to invoke imagery and evoke memories from that expanded definition. All elements of the design are original works, based on this theme, and created by the three collaborators and their assistants for this installation, which includes work by individual artists, pairs of artists, and collaborations of all three. WORKSHOP 3D CDO Jeff Mihalyo<\/a><\/strong> fabricated the “exploded television” that hangs high above the first floor lobby and assisted with other aspects of the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WORKSHOP 3D, LLC<\/strong> is proud to support this installation with our ARt portal<\/strong> app. When viewed through the app, Miguel Edwards<\/strong>‘ thematic photographs installed in each of the five upper elevator lobbies changes to a humorous piece of signage. Since these signs are stored on line, this portion of this artwork can be changed from time to time without any changes in the physical work. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
