The Goodship Company wanted their products to stand out from other products a consumer might be considering. We literally made them do this.
The company has a strong logo that makes for a good augmented reality target, and it appears on all of their products and marketing materials. This created the perfect opportunity for an augmented reality app!
Each of the company’s products is marked by a different stylized drawing of a fantasy dirigible or airship – often a cross fertilization of several different sea, land, and air-going vessels. WORKSHOP 3D Chief Design Officer Jeff Mihalyo was tasked with re-imagining one of these in three dimensions, adding detail, color, and humor along the way, to use as a flying ship in a custom augmented reality app.
In The Goodship app, customers can not only fly The Goodship above their favorite Goodship product, but view the company’s value, product line, and current news. WORKSHOP 3D created a dashboard from which the news can be updated whenever necessary by company representatives.
The Goodship was WORKSHOP 3D’s first published app, launched through the Apple iOS store and the Google PLAY store in November, 2017, in time for a major industry event at which it was unveiled.
Since then, The Goodship company has held contests using the app, giving a prize for the best photo of The Goodship posted to instagram at #iflygoodship, and used the app for other promotions.
